AWARD-WINNING COMPOSER DANNY PELFREY INKS MULTI-GAME CONTRACT WITH ACTIVISION TO SCORE THREE NEW STAR TREK GAMES
HOLLYWOOD, CA - Activision has just announced that award-winning composer and multi-instrumentalist Danny Pelfrey has been awarded a contract to compose music for three new Activision Star Trek Games. "His musical score for both pre-rendered movie sequences and background ambient music is truly awe inspiring. I wouldn't feel comfortable scoring a game without him," said Doug Pearson, Producer for Activision. Danny Pelfrey has created music for six Star Trek interactive Activision games, including the best-selling Star Trek game ever Star Trek Armada, and "Game of the Year" nominee Star Trek Elite Force. Pearson added, "Danny has always delivered high quality material to us in a very timely fashion. He requires very little input from our end to really get the right sound we are looking for."
Besides his work for the Star Trek franchise, Pelfrey's energetic and atmospheric composition and production credits include a number of chart-topping CD-ROM games. Among his successes are Steel Panthers, Fantasy General, Thunderscape, Entomorph, Age of Rifles, Pacific General, Imperialism, Dark Reign, Rise of the Shadow Hand, Sword of Heroes and Pajama Sam.
Emmy-nominated for his underscore to a Felicity episode entitled "Help for the Lovelorn," Pelfrey is currently the weekly TV composer for CBS' That's Life and ABC's Spin City, for which he also wrote the main title theme. Recently Danny Pelfrey's instrumental piece "Felicity and Ben's Theme" (known to most Felicity fans as "that piano song" on the December 19, 2001 episode) became the most requested song by viewers of the WB series. Kristi Dunn, Site Creator for felicitytunes.com, said "within minutes of an episode ending which featured Danny's piano piece, email messages would start flooding in...the number of visitors to my site doubled and tripled on Wednesday nights and Thursdays after the song was featured in an episode." Due to all of this recent attention, there is now interest in including this track in a second Felicity soundtrack album.
Pelfrey won the 2001 Video Premiere Award in the category of BEST SONG for "Better Than I," a song he produced and arranged for DreamWorks' animated feature Joseph - King of Dreams. He was also nominated in the category of Best Original Score for his work on this popular musical. Pelfrey's other credits and awards include being part of the Emmy-winning teams for Santa Barbara, Another World and Guiding Light. He also worked on the dramatic scores for several mini-series and has contributed music to a number of acclaimed primetime shows including Friends, Providence, Melrose Place, and Once and Again.
The accomplished musician's TV career has included performances as a soloist on various television shows, such as The Wonder Years, Roseanne, Ellen, Arsenio Hall, David Letterman and The Tonight Show. He has also
recorded with many music legends including Aretha Franklin, Smokey Robinson, Carole King, David Crosby, Eric Clapton, Paul Simon and James Taylor.
