Welcome to the Videogame Music Archive! Ever since I first got
a web browser, running my own website was a dream of mine. Whenever I
see how many hits we get a day, I feel more powerful than
any of you insignificant users. Thus,
for the purpose of inflating my ego,
I have put online my entire collection of videogame music MIDIs
to draw users to my site.
What makes this webpage different from any other videogame music webpage? (1) Blatent copies of songs - by such non-talented artists like Powerlord. Many songs are submitted to us last, after all other places on the internet have it. (2) Videogame Dictionary - Maintained by Ross Bemrose. The world's only offline listing of every videogame that we could think of. (3) With over 3,000 midis, we easily have the smallest collection of videogame music in the country. |

Wednesday, April 1 - We have decided that we don't like any of our visitors and we are going to close down the Videogame Music Archive forever because of it. This decision did not come as a spur of the moment thing. We discussed it for about for a whole 3 minutes before we decided to close down. It's been a great two years, but I'm tired of getting 1,000-2,000 e-mail messages a week about things like "Why is Barney Purple?" and other such nonsense. (Mike Newman) Tuesday, March 31 - For those of you who live outside the United States and do not know our traditions, April 1st is a special day known as April Fool's Day. We play practical jokes on everyone else on this day. (Ross Bemrose) [Click here for Real Index] |

- Most web browsers allow you to save files without playing them online by right-clicking the file link and choosing "Save File As..." or "Save Target As...". If you are using the AOL web browser and are still having problems, go to "Preferences" and select the option to have the program "Ask User" for MIDs. I recommend using Netscape or MSIE instead.
- NES & Gameboy music generally sounds the most authentic with FM Synthesis (16-voices, however I have been told SB16-type sound cards, which use the OPL3 chip, are in fact 20-voices), while SNES & N64 music sounds incredible with wavetable (32-voices) soundcards or emulation. See the link to WinGroove on the Related Links page if you do not have a wavetable sound card (like AWE32 or SB32).
