Where'd my Rusty Ruin Zone: Act 2 (Genesis) MIDI go?

Postby Monster Iestyn » Wed Jun 09, 2010 12:47 pm

I'm really sure that I uploaded a MIDI of this tune from Sonic 3D Blast (for Genesis) to VGMusic ages ago, but it seems to be nowhere in VGMusic anymore, if it ever has. Either I forgot to upload it in the first place, or it was somehow deleted for some reason, but my memory alone can't help remind me whether I did actually upload it or not.

Does any of the staff here know why it disappeared/was deleted, if it was in the Genesis section before?

If I forgot to upload it in the first place... then obviously this topic is pointless and a waste of time.

EDIT: Gah, it seems my MIDI of Gene Gadget Zone: Act 2 for the same game's disappeared as well.

if files are rejected in the new-files you should get an e-mail notifying you that they were deleted. however if they're added to the archive then later deleted you currently won't get any notification about that. if you can, check your e-mail and see if you've had anything from noreply@vgmusic.com regarding those two files. it's possible they were deleted though if they were i personally have no recollection of this -- think i added all the files you uploaded so far. sadly we don't currently keep any logs so there's no way to find out what happened to the files on our end.

anyway, whatever the case is, you can resubmit the files.

...well, checking my email shows that I actually did upload those two files before, and they weren't rejected either.

Oh well, I'll just have to upload them again, in that case...

hm, in that case i can only assume they were added then later deleted for an unaccountable reason. sorry i have no better explanation (this problem is sadly common... we should implement a mailout script for archive deletions.)

You submitted them for Sega Saturn, not for Sega Genesis.

No, I'm sure I submitted them for the Genesis. I don't remember ever seeing any Rusty Ruin Zone MIDIs of mine in the Saturn section until my Saturn ones were added there recently, let alone ever seeing any of my Genesis MIDIs being in that one by mistake before...

No, you submitted them for Sega Saturn. Even the MIDI track names state "Sonic 3D Blast - Saturn".

Wait, are you getting my Genesis Sonic 3D Blast MIDIs mixed up with my Saturn Sonic 3D Blast MIDIs or something? It's my Genesis MIDIs I'm talking about, not the Saturn ones.

I submitted the Genesis ones long before I had started the Saturn ones, so I can't have named them with "Sonic 3D Blast - Saturn" by accident.

What are the filenames of the MIDIs you can't find? You might be able to get them from the email notification you got when they were added to the archive if you can't remember.

Sonic 3D Blast - Rusty Ruin Zone 2.mid
Sonic 3D Blast - Gene Gadget Zone 2.mid

It sort of doesn't really matter now, seeing as I've uploaded these two to the newfiles section again anyway...
