It's still a work in progress, only about 40 seconds in so far and I'm not exactly positive (i've got some ideas though) where I'm going with it from here; so I figured that I'd post it here and see if I can get any critique or comments that might help.

The title is pretty tentative and actually kind of arose from the song popping up in my mind as something completely different than what it is now. But anyway.

Do you guys have any thoughts on it so far?

I like it so far, not a big fan of the samples but they work for the most part. If you tell me what the instruments you are using are I can try and find something in my library more worthy of the song.

Only suggestion I have other than trying to find better samples is to have a section at some point that is just a really awesome percussion section, like a nice little 16 bar buildup using nothing but percussion, and then have a climatic loop or ending after that segment where you bring in all the other instruments you have used already. ;) Your song though, do what comes to you naturally... that's just what I'm hearing next when the song stops.

The main instrument is a mix of a dulcimer and a clav; the bass is a picked bass and the wind instrument is a pan flute.

I'll see what I can do - it seems like a pretty good idea so if I can work it in somehow I will.

It's your song man, do what comes natural. The biggest issue with asking for people's input is you will hear THEIR ideas for where to go, which is only what we hear. The best strategy for coming up with a song that you will like(not the general population) is to compose the song instinctively, and not strategically. If that makes no sense... I will make it very blunt for you... don't THINK, just DO. :D Listen to the song straight through(with the looping on whatever it is you use to listen to it with turned off) and the thing you hear FIRST after it's stopped, is what you need to try and put in the song. If you draw a huge empty hall of silence in your mind, then take on suggestions, but try to do it your own way first. :p

Also, a Clavinet and a Dulcimer? Weird combo but you definitely made it work. ;) You would've been great for the contests I threw back in the day. I THINK I have a good dulcimer, and the pan flute I have a good one for that too. Actually have this set called "World Combo.SF2"(this is assuming you are using soundfonts?) I can upload for you if you don't already have it. Has a pretty good collection of foreign instruments. Bass samples... I might have one but not sure what the SF2 one I have sounds like. :p
