Just to let you know, I'm alive. I'm not going to say anything more for the moment since I'm rather busy right now...

Okay, I'm not busy now.

I find MSGS is okay to work with when you get going, though from the outside it's hardly attractive and is generally my last choice for general playback.

Reviewing them again, the restrictions definitely seem a tad unbalanced. From the outset I felt lucky to get the restriction I had, and in practice it proved to be an inspiration (whether the result was actually any good remains to be seen, of course). Some of the other restrictions looked far more unpalatable if not quite entirely prohibitive.

For playing with flv video, I am now using VirtualDub with an FLV Input Plugin from moitah.net (and the ffdshow plugins, come to think of it). It all seems to be relatively undemanding and works well.

I believe +44 is the international dialing code for the UK.

I couldn't find any tuned wine glasses.

Most self-evident sentence ever.

Smartalac, but true.

Shock wrote:combined with the downright ridiculous restriction (comparable to asking someone to buy their groceries without using a grocery cart or a sack of any kind, I reckon)

Hmm... not quite, but close. Now if that were used to desrcribe Darkstom and Zenkusa's video, I'd definitely say so. Doing that one w/o any percussion would be like trying to make an omelette with just one egg.... Talk about a tough nut to crack.......

At least there are workarounds to the percussion channel (they're hard to find but they do exist). Strings are basically irreplaceable (some say that synth pads and voice pads will do the trick, but with MSGS, trust me they don't).

lol, all this hate for msgs. Sadly, it'll always have a special place in my heart. ive gotten extremely used to its sound, and the way its instruments blend together.

As someone who's used a square as a percussion instrument before, I kind of understand that, but using any non-percussion instrument as a percussion instrument is a bit of a pain. Also, I was under the impressions that certain workarounds were being disallowed, or at least that was my impression.

As for strings, while they be mostly irreplaceable, I have always noted that in MSGS the atmosphere FX sound kind of like orchestral strings (i.e. harp) and that a metallic pad sounds kind of like a warped violin (at best). Other than that, no dice.

*Click* You have mail.

Anyways, I am so screwed against Zenkusa. Thank god I like anime, otherwise I would have had no idea how do to my little song. But Zenkusa is good, and I can already picture this competition Earthbound-style:

-Darkstomr091 Encountered Zenkusa.
-Darkstomr091 Sized up the situation.
-Darkstomr091 felt a little strange.
-Zenkusa flashed a menacing smile.
-Darkstomr091 tried Sequncin Skills [Alpha].
-But it failed.
-Zenkusa tried Sequencin Skills [Omega].
-657 HP of mortal damage to Darkstomr091.
-Darkstomr091 got hurt and collapsed.
-Darkstomr091 was defeated.

Translation, I'm screwed. *whimper*
I am an illusion. You do not see me.

Hello Guys,
GOOD NEWS! I've finally repair my computer(I had some problems like new wireless connection but wasn't working, my computer wasn't able to record anything that came from himself, etc ....) and I have all the videos synced with the submissions you gave to me!!! :D ! :D !

Before the voting starts tonight, here are the people who didn't gave me their submissions:
- Shock
- Willow
- Jace
- BlueWarrior
- Jayster
- Riley

These peoples have to submit their songs through PM BEFORE TONIGHT AT 12:00 AM. For the Match #1, If Shock doesn't submit something before tonight, then Spudge will take his place so he will face against willow for the voting time. however, if Willow doesn't show up, then there will be no winner for the first match.

Also, if you wanted to see your video before tonight or if you didn't receive any videos on your e-mail address, please PM me and give me your address.

So that's all for now. Tonight I will start the voting and all the videos will be available through Youtube(All videos are gonna be untitled to keep it anonymous) and everyone will be able to vote for only one video in each match. Let's hope this whole thing will work!

P.S.: I know the first round seemed a little slippery but the next round will not be messed up don't worry  .

For the Match #1(Shock Vs. Willow), If no one submit something before tonight, then Spudge will take place in the Tournament for Round 2.

That's unacceptable. He wasn't even in the contest in the first place. What does that mean? I could've stayed out of the contest for the first round, waited until round two and said 'I wanna have a go at it'?

That's better. Good news though: I have something done now. It's neither complete nor very good, but at least it's something. I'll work on it today and submit it at 11.59 PM...

Yeah, I haven't had much inspiration for my piece, so production on the midi has been a slow-go. I'll try and get something more done than what I've got right now and send it at the last minute.

It is. :| And here I thought that I was the biggest procratinator here... :P True that some of the restrictions make it kinda tough though. I lucked out on a video that came a might bit easier to me than the others would. Unfortunately, that luck didn't hold through the competition roll. ~>_<~

Disregard that. My entry is 90% done. I'm just going to polish it up a bit before I turn it in. I still think my restriction was unreasonable, and that MSGS is as subtle as a butcher's knife, but I took the afternoon to test every obscure general MIDI patch (like those FX and pads and leads no one ever uses) and found some that vaguely resembled what I needed.

So yeah, there will be an entry from me after all. Whether it's a winning one though... I've never been kicked out of an SCC in the first round. I hope it doesn't start now.
