The piece flows quite well too, but one thing that could make this tune a little more catchy was a more defined melody around 0:13 and 0:30, although the parts at 0:30 fit nicely, it could do with a few harmonies and what not to give it a bigger wow factor. Great work though!
Thanks very much. The hardest thing I find about making a song is coming up with a melody, I kind of got lucky with this one.
I have a midi keyboard, would memorizing all the chords help with making melodies? I've opened up a bunch of castlevania songs into FL studio to look at how Michiru Yamane structures her song and that's how I managed to get this song going. I've read that she just plays on her piano until she has something she likes and then she fixes the notes. With this song, I just placed the notes in the piano roll where I thought it'd sound best.
The soundfont, along with MIDIs to study, was ripped directly from the rom with VGMTrans if anyone's wondering.
I'd like to post my next one that I made. I've taken advice from you guys
http://soundcloud.com/user4753809/7xI tried for a part without percussion to cut monotony as Peach said, and I tried for more harmony with the lead as Kc1336 said.
In my opinion, the strings sound really rough. I need to use some other samples I think. Also, I really didn't expect it to be as short as it is. For now, I guess I'll focus on how to make a song work (for the most part) rather than trying something longer. This was probably 2 hours of work, and listening to it again on soundcloud, it seems I have a few notes that could be fixed.
