Oh, I hope there is another album project. Particularly a certain one that we've already had two instalments of in the past 2 years
*coughsamplepackcontestcough* Also, is anyone else deciding to make alternative covers? I'd like to collect them for a purpose of diversity.
Now..I mentioned a stub earlier, but I'll post my reviews here in tracklisting order:
1. Spudge - Prologue:MaliceX wrote:A very orchestral piece that is definetly well composed and well produced. The name says it all, it is the interlude to a new beginning of something. A very charismatic approach in melody that clearly shows beautiful soft instruments, to a progressive movement where one would interpret a cinematic image of a new journey.
2. CBlockDis - Wars For Dreams:MaliceX wrote:As the name says, we are presented a sombre interpretation of climax and misfit somewhere in an imaginary battlefield. The foot is set and again the cinematic image appears only this time the song moves further into, the section transitions and melody tell the story of active movement only to be slain to a slower pace in the last segment.
3. Sir Camehan - The Fight:MaliceX wrote:Interestingly this song makes use of retro electronic sounds used in past video games the last decade or so, to meet together with a modern touch and create this concoction of a disco-style groove reminiscent to demoscene music. The song does give the impression of the implied 'fight' as obviated by the use of minors and descending progression.
4. Jack Chandler - AscensionMaliceX wrote:The ostinato-like piano harmonies that present the basic idea slowly grow into something more faster-paced and moving, demonstrated with the use of digital drum sounds and extra background accompaniment which drives the song further to...ascension. The basic melody is improvised as the song reaches further to drive the intended atmosphere given.
5. Jormungand - Forest in the Storm:MaliceX wrote:Let's say, one has ascended enough to reach their destination and found their way to a new world/place one would never dream of venturing into, in this case an imaginary field of beautiful flora, tree life and more, in the heart of a harsh wilderness. The melodic progression and sound used shows great eloquency as the piece drives and tells the image of such place from one perspective to the next continuously, not to mention it's well balanced out and produced well. As a whole, one would interpret the highly cinematic nature of this piece despite its overall appearance of being background music subconsciously heard to.
6. Kris Troutman - Spoiled Nation:MaliceX wrote:A highly interpretive piece that is most definitely inspired by video games in the 90's era not just by sound, but by the harmonies used to accompany the song. You could say this song represents a place one is never to have set foot on if the adventure had not begun. Further on, we can see the use of echo repetition to express the depth of significance to what the melody is trying to draw out. As a cohesive whole, I would say there's something 'twisted' about the place the song describes.
7. ButzaW - Fruit of Jupiter:MaliceX wrote:If you ever heard of fruit growing in Jupiter, well...that's to your interpretation. In this case, this particular song displays a catchy beat with some constant repetition along with slight movement that slowly becomes more frantic which probably means, Jupiter's some crazy place with some crazy tasting, and looking fruit.
8. drumnbach - Singapore:MaliceX wrote:Well I can't really say much here because I really don't know what Singapore is like, though what I can say is this song shows a somewhat jazz/fusion-inspired groove (pentatonic?) to drive one's thoughts of this city in real life. Always moving, almost sounds like a subliminal advertisement, I can imagine a picture of clean tall buildings surrounded by complete blue or grey.
9. Miszou - Acceleration Arcadia:MaliceX wrote:At one persepctive, this song is essentially a 'driving' song that goes 4 on the floor not entirely typically, though it shows this plays while someone's zooming through a straight doing slick drifts at night. Otherwise a pumping song in the mix, you always have to have one somewhere. I like the unconventional filtering of sounds, sounds more game friendly as opposed to hardcore gabber noise that blares out at 120 decibels. This song could also work for a brief cutscene segment of fast paced action.
10. dj.tuBIG/MaliceX - Dwindling Petal, Dwelling Rose:MaliceX wrote:This was my own piece. I initially thought of this piece for something far in the middle, a hazy scene of flowers in a field, though it turned to something more I can't say. Woodwinds driving the pace of the song, with an ostinato chord line repeating in the background to back it up. Mix that in 5/8 and 6/8 and you get this.
11. Magister ZZ - Phantasia:MaliceX wrote:From the start to finish this piece flows from an ethereal atmosphere to something else that seems to act on its own by melody and instrument (minimal?). The very image depicted is exclusively background music oriented, a bit of a semi electronic turn using some organic sounds. I can see this is heavily inspired by videogame music of the Super Nintendo era.
12. AmosMoses - Black Sunset:MaliceX wrote:The idea depicted from this song implies this is supposed to represent evil of some kind of demeanor. Repeated lines of melody are arranged throughout the song in different order and has the premise of retrograde melody similar to that of C64 music...though another thought makes me want to forget certain details. Melodically it is distressing in tone.
13. Paper_Luigi - Beneroya Harbor:MaliceX wrote:One would say this harbor somehow seems a bit too comical for it to be 'just' a harbor. That accordion just gives that extra detail playing alongside the marimbas and accompaniment. I like how the repetition of the progression sticks to the point of the song, this works well for background music.
14. latios_of_altomare - Life by the Mountain Stream:MaliceX wrote:Nicely done for a final taste of flavour, this song shows the general descriptive of adventure progressing into the unknown only to find there is a whole new place to be. A happy happy music tune that is composed of not one, but three different segments that intertwine together. Each of those segments represents possibly typical town scenery and more. The sounds are just right and well, it just sounds like a good way to express 'a day in adventure' in less than 4 minutes.
So there you have it guys. Very nice work.

All in all!
