One thing to be careful of with loop points (at least with Winamp); I mentioned before about how notes can't touch the end of the bar, else note-offs won't be triggered upon loop, though I probably didn't mention about how there has to be at least one note almost touching the bar-line, else the song loops prematurely. Basically all that happened in this case was the final, quietest hi-hat before the looppoint was omitted (or otherwise inaudible), so I manually added it back in after recording.

in_midi has some annoying quirks :\ shame I don't know of a better MIDI player that does everything I need.

Just went through and listened to everything you have on your server so far. I must say, listening to some of these songs like this was audio-bliss. Thanks for sharing, I'll definately have to invest in one of these. :)

Do the songs have to be specifically made for XG?
May I make a few requests?

They don't, but the tunes were done in MSGS, then the default instruments sound a bit different then if they were actually made for XG (if memory serves properly, though it never acts like that on my pathetic machine).

I think that your cover of Dark Hyrule Castle sounds rather good in XG though.

[edit]Heh. Interesting version of Quick Man's Stage. Mine might kinda sound like that if I sped up. Fortunately, yours sounds alright on XG. Mine sounds like crap on XG. Actually, most of mine sound like crap on XG.

I have the S-YXG50 SoftwareSynthesizer installed, they seem to sound fine on it.

I found all the songs in the VGmusic archieve, except for the Zelda one. If I remember correctly I found that on Lunar's site. :)

I'm only recording your own midis, and preferably ones that are designed for YAMAHA devices. So, I won't record the Mega Man ones. They don't sound particularly different to the SYXG50 anyway. You might be able to persuade me to record good XG midis by third parties though! Depends.

However, I'm probably going to make youtube videos for all my Minish Cap vids, so I'll do that for the Dark Hyrule Castle midi 8)

Seems I got a bit excited and over read that, I apologize.

On the other hand I look forward to your Minish Cap covers.

Sorry. That was a small typo in that paragraph. I meant to say "fortunately" instead of "unfortunately", though it is unfortunate that most of mine sound pretty bad. I think that's where I messed up.

Ahhh, great sequence! It came out nicely too, as I'm sure you'll agree:

Though I'll concede to its mediocrity, it still sounds pretty good, and was fun to make, seeing as I did it all by ear which has been a while since I done that. The guitar part sounds kinda quiet though...shame, that was my favorite part of the whole sequence~ :(
