New, original Sega Genesis-style Sonic music

Postby KGB525 » Sat Jun 04, 2011 10:39 pm

In the past few months, I have made two albums of entirely original music, in the vein of Sonic games from the Genesis era. They are called Sonicesque Vol. I and II. If you grew up loving the music of those classic games, like I did, you are sure to get a kick out of these!! They were made using VOPM, a VST plug-in which perfectly emulates the Sega Genesis sound chip. Below are links to the Youtube playlists for the entire albums. Enjoy!!

P.S. If you enjoy these, be sure to check out my Youtube channel, where I have uploaded many more new Sonic songs!! Subscribe, and you'll be alerted whenever I make a new one!

You're pretty good! I commented on a few of your videos.
I love that FM Synthesis sound, it brings back so many Genesis era memories.

I wish I was as fluent in Sonic Styled music as you are. I'm composing music for a Sonic Robo Blast 2 Level Series, called Tortured Planet. You'd think that since Sonic Music was pretty much my whole childhood, it'd be nothing for me to copy it, that's not the case. I have a much easier time copying Kirby Music, or Megaman Music, or Spyro Music, or even the ambient music of Tim Follin in Ecco: Defender of the Future.

I saw you wanted to compose for a real game. I'd suggest that you hang around game developing forums, or even look around for growing fangames if you want to get some practice. After I finish Tortured Planet's soundtrack, I plan on trying to move to something commercial.
I sometimes make belief and pretend I can compose
