The standalone SGT player works fine.
Must be a bug in the SGT plugin.

'Bout ready to ask (prolly) a dumb question; what is "SGT"?

This driver is very interesting, I was looking for a similar thing for ages!

Unfortunately I noticed some delay that make difficult to work with it using a sequencer, just like the Windows GS Wavetable synth. I suppose this is only meant for games and MIDI playback? Anyone is using it with better results? I'm going to do further tests with other computers.

Custom format by Microsoft. Used in their DirectMusic API for dynamic music in games.
Fortunately the format never took off and now games use their own systems for music.

Thanks for the reminder, Mudlord! :)

Well duh... I *SHOULD* have known that, as I've twiddled with DirectMusic Producer several moons ago <grin>!

I expect now what the problem is that winamp crashes^^ After the latest release the driver load and unload itself. That means that you can overwrite the dll files oder soundfonts without any problem. Not before. If winamp stopped the driver unloads itself and could produce this crash. I think this could be the problem. The direct music player crashes sometimes during the initializing part after you choose bassmidi driver. I hope this report might help more ;)

Hi everybody!

Some time ago, I reported that I was unable to get any sound from BASSMIDI Driver under a virtualized XP machine (Parallels 6 for Mac).
I just found why...

It seems that the configuration panel (on v2.0 at least) doesn't support UNC network paths.
As Parallels automatically creates network shares to access the host's hard disk drives from the VM, I used to add my SoundFont through \\psf\Home\Documents\Arachno SoundFont - Version 1.0.sf2.
I didn't realize that I the GUI had misinterpreted this path and believed it to be C:\Windows\\psf\Home\Documents\Arachno SoundFont - Version 1.0.sf2.
So, I simply had no sound because no SoundFont was being loaded because of this screwed up path.

I copied the SF2 to my VM's C:\ drive and it works like a charm.
Sound output is perfect for song listening (latency is not really important for that use) and I can now appreciate my MIDI files on-the-go using your excellent driver!

There is another thing. The Sample buffering. Tested on xmplay and winamp or other player. Xmplay has a better buffering for samples. Are there any ways to improve this?

Hi mudlord,

Do you have any news about that broken volume slider control which has absolutely no effect?

Most MIDIs using tracks with volume levels greater than 60/70% (orange or red VU-meters on vanBasco's Karaoke Player output window) usually suffer from extreme clipping with Arachno SoundFont (what about yours, RichNagel, ex-driver?) which is quite annoying while listening to various MIDIs.

If you're still stuck with that, releasing an update with the overall master volume setting slightly lowered by default, could be a temporary solution.

BTW, this new installer allowing updates by uninstalling the previous version without rebooting is absolutely sweet :)
