FM Arrangements

I'm working on a few of these so I figure I should look for some critique on what I've gotten done.

Street fighter 2010 - Planet 1, Area 3

I started on this one sometime last month trying to get it done for the Street fighter 25th Anniversary tribute but my good pair of headphone 'sploded so I didn't bother. I've been recently getting very accustomed to FM7 and FM8 and I'm working my way through VOPM now so I'm working at authenticity but the one thing I can't seem to get is proper mastering. Everything kinda sounds like a mess while other FM tracks, both professional and amateur seem so crisp and clear.

Nice sequence. Mastering/mixing is something I have tremendous difficulty with as well, so I can't offer many (any) good tips. Never underestimate EQ though. Try isolating each track to its own frequency range as much as you possibly can. Unless I'm mistaken, the song sounds rather over-compressed, and personally, I like to avoid using compression unless it's absolutely necessary (and especially since I hardly know how or when to use it) it can do more harm than good to the mix when used improperly.

Hopefully someone can provide better advice than me.
