Energetic's Music on YouTube

Postby EnergeticEssence » Sat Jun 18, 2011 11:14 am

Hey, I thought I'd share my VGM pieces with you guys :)

I'm new to VGM, you must know. I've never composed music before, but I've always loved listening to VGM. Note: Those are only short tests. If I put more time into a composition, it'll sound way better :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jx1aOz_0WVE (new link, because I had to edit the description)

A few information about this composition:

I actually wanted to compse a song, that sounds like the music of Star Fox (SNES), so I startet composing. But it didn't sound like that typical Star Fox like music, so I decided to turn it into a rock music kind of piece, so I composed a song that sounds a bit like the music of Rock'n Roll Racing. I neither like rock music, nor do I like the music of Rock'n Roll Racing. But anyway, the game itself is pretty cool actually :)

This is another short song I wrote. I wanted to compose a song that sounds like the music of the Parodius series - Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius, to be more precisely. I'm actually quite happy with this short song. It's my second composition.

This time, I tried to compose a short song, that sounds like the music of the game Wagyan Paradise.

PS: You should really try this game. It's a lot of fun, and not many people know about it.

NEW SONG:

This is the theme for the Spooky Factory of my RPG project :)

The first 2 songs are pretty cool. Do you have any downloads or midi files available?

Glad you like them :)

Here are the downloads (format: MP3):

City Rocker (Rock n' Roll Racing style):

http://www.file-upload.net/download-352 ... -.mp3.html

We'll Make It (Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius style):

http://www.file-upload.net/download-352 ... 3.mp3.html

Happy Wagyan (Wagyan Paradise style):

I've tried to export them into MIDI format with FL Studio 10, but unfortunately the sound is more than awful after converting them :/

Okay, I've uploaded the MIDI files, but the quality of some of them is extremely awful.

Here is the City Rocker one. The first part sounds really crappy, the second part sounds quite decent, but not brilliant at all:

This is the Happy Wagyan song. You can't even tell, what song it was in MP3, if you don't know. Probably the most horrible MIDI I've heard -.-

http://midishrine.com/midi/42126.mid

This is the best MIDI. You can tell what the original song is. I'm most happy with this one :)

http://midishrine.com/midi/42127.mid

Anyway, the reason why they sound so bad is, because I have not professionally transcribed them into MIDIs. They were supposed to sound like music from games I like, so I exported them as MP3s.

So we can say: Exporting MIDIs with FL Studio, that were actually thought as MP3 = trash =P

Anyway, it's actually impossible to just convert an MP3 into a MIDI because they are completely different audio formats. The instruments don't fit etc.

Hmm if you're using FL studio you can convert the MP3 file music to a Midi and re port the MIDI into FL and use the FL Midi instruments. But then it could cause quality problems in sound. Heh then no Midi can sound that close to the orginal MP3. Overall though the samples you have up sound pretty good. Keep up the good work. Fav has the be the Wagyan Paradise one.

(edit) lol yup misread there but that's exactly what I was saying there.

Thank you! :)

Anyway, I'm pretty new to composing music, and FL Studio isn't the easiest program there is.
I composed those little songs very quickly. My songs would sound even better if I'd spend more time on them :)

Anyway, if you've seen my other thread (Starseed- SNES Project), I'm working on a RPG for the SuperNES and I've already got one song. KungFuFurby has acutally turned it into a real SPC and edited it a bit, and it sounds pretty cool :)

If you're good at music composition and wanna be part of my project, feel free :)

In reply to one of your videos:

You might have found this out yourself already, but here are more tunes from the guy who created bananasplit:

I'm posting this here because youtube doesn't like links, and besides, it's good music! And thanks for pointing me towards another demoscene musician I really need to check out. :P
