Website's 9th Birthday!

Postby Yaginuma » Mon Dec 19, 2005 8:55 pm

Get up and dance, its the Videogame Music Archive's 9th birthday! We've been through many milestones, and have established our place in history. Thanks to the new Google ads, this is the first year (and month) that the site is also financially self-sufficient! We're currently at 75,000 page impressions per day. Thanks to the staff for their hard work, for the fans of this site who keep us going, the sequencers for capturing perfection, and the composers for their creativity that has inspired us all. The extra revenue will be used to fund some new giveaways. Or just dance some more.

Happy birthday. Nearly a decade being alive. That's pretty incredible for a web site.

Whee, happy ninth birthday, VGMusic! And look, I made a cake!

Note: This is most definitely NOT the same cake I made for Ricky last year. This is a fresh cake that is most certainly NOT moldy.

Happy birthday, VGMusic!! Even though I've only been here for a year, I feel sort of an attachment to the forums and the community...so...yeah. CAKE!

Wait, you made me a cake? *tries to remember* Um, nope... no recollection of it.

And you should probably check that recipe of yours. :P

Wh-- is that a cake made out of beer??

Anyway, I've been here half as long as its existed, although I only signed up about four months ago. So, happy birthday, VG Music! Let's also give a big hand toward Powerlord and Forteblast for their hard work as webmasters!

Said it on the other topic, I'll say it here...the best damned MIDI site out there, hands down. :D Happy BDay, VGMusic, you're only gonna get bigger and better.

I'm looking towards the big one-oh now.

Or maybe Grug.

Or this.

Awesome / awesome / awesome. I forgot about Dark Devin and MEGADUDE, but I could never forget Grug. I could say that word all day. Grug. Grug grug grug. Um, I digress.

Necrosaro came around here not all that long ago if I remember rightly - I guess a year or so ago. Didn't he start some quiz on the GMB, then end up getting his topic locked or somesuch? As for CyberKhan and Wildkard, I'd never even heard of them before. Is there a staff history anywhere? That'd be interesting to have a look through.

Also, here's the Wikipedia entry for VGMusic.com, for anyone who wants a gander. It seems to go into the knitty-gritty of how the site and staff functions, as opposed to what the site is on the user-end (and it sure makes the staff look threatening). Still, you might learn something :). I think it'd be cool if we could get people to contribute to it and add any information they have. Possibly a GMB topic on that? Just an idea.

Finally, I notice that even a few years back, the site seemed to have closer ties with other communities. OCRemix, RPGgamer, SSTrax, VGmidi etc. all seemed to be mentioned in the news a lot more than they are now. Even mention of CocoeBiz seems to have fallen dramatically as of recent. What happened? Did everyone just turn their backs on the site or what? It definitely looks and feels more independant these days. I realise there were a few "cliques" that went away and did their own thing, though I still find it a bit sad. This might be why people seem to think the site has deteriorated.

You can NOT have done that...oh, well. I forgot about MEGADUDE.

But I think we've already had our tenpointer for this year..."WHAT THE HELL IS WITH ALL THE BLOODY ATTITUDE!? GOSH ALL OF YOU VGMUSIC FORUMERS ARE SO IMMATURE!!!"

Happy burpday to you, VGMusic. I guess I can give it to ya. December 31st, I've been on these forums for two whole years! I ain't that old, actually, compared to some others...
