Random Song Button

Postby Yaginuma » Sat Aug 08, 2009 9:44 pm

A Random Song button is now available on the front page (see left column). The current version does not tell you which song is playing. We hope to fix that with iframes in a future version.

Damn sweet. Some song info would be nice, though, yeah :P But it does what it's supposed to.

Will it be possible to filter the random results to certain consoles, and heck, even games?

man, this thing has made me realise there's so much crap in the archive, it is slightly embarassing. people are gonna visit the site, click the button, hear something so horrifying that it mentally scars them and then they'll never return \:D/

in all seriousness this is great and a lot of fun. a shame that it renames the sequences though. it'd suck to find an awesome track and not know what it was!

Haha. It's kind of funny when you can go from an arranged version of a tune or more current generation affair to the minimalism of a typical old GB or SMS cover. Granted it isn't to bad if you have a non-standard playback device (or soundfont) to go by, but the effects are still amusing nonetheless.

It is an interesting addition to say the least. It'll be nice once you get the song info on there because it kinda sucks to not even know what system certain midis are from (unless you're lucky enough to get a random midi with the game/tune info stuck in the comments or track names, that is).

Good idea! I think I can implement that via SQLite. Its now on my to-do list!

Haha, me too. There's a lot of rubbish music out there. Mind you, our recreations tend to be faithful, so for archival purposes it's fine......
